HOW DOES TOUCHING AND SEEING WATER CHANGE THE
WAY WE FEEL?
The profound emotional connection humans have with water, offering calm and balance, is intensi ed in Galley Sherani, Amedi. Here, the owing mountain water, fresh air, and natural scenery create a deeply peaceful and restorative atmosphere. Designing ecologically means architecture complements the landscape, integrating natural materials and water features to frame the river and mountains, enhancing well-being while preserving the area’s natural identity.
TERRAIN AND SITE INTEGRATION
The Galley Sherani site features varied terrain and natural water channels. The design uses a step-down approach, gradually lowering platforms (1.8m to 2.2m between levels), to follow the natural slope and water ow. This ensures the architecture respects the existing topography, maintains ecological balance, and blends harmoniously with the landscape.

This resort project aims to use ecological and sustainable design to match the unique character of the site. The design carefully follows galley sherana’s natural topography, using level changes that respect the land and water ow, creating a smooth link between the buildings and the environment. we’re using local and natural materials throughout so the architecture blends in perfectly, feeling both natural and luxurious. The final layout focuses on views toward the water and mountains, enhancing the sense of place and ensuring a perfect balance between human activity and ecology. This resort isn’t just a destination; it’s meant to be a model of sustainable architecture that truly celebrates the beauty and identity of galley Sherana, Amedi.
The blue water stream, complemented by lush green landscapes, forms the central element of the site. The project area holds great potential to attract large numbers of tourists, particularly from other cities across Iraq during the summer season. Although the project will see peak use in summer, one of its main goals is to ensure year-round activity and usability, not just seasonal operation.
A tranquil area where families and friends can sit together, dip their feet in the cool, clear water, and enjoy a refreshing break. The gentle ow of the stream creates a soothing ambiance, perfect for relaxation and laughter.
